15Mar2018 - physio and run
15th March 2018

Surprisingly, when I got up this morning my ankle was left bruised that it has been in a couple of weeks. Implies the brace is doing the damage and running is ok. It was still swollen but normal the colour was good. The physio was pleased with what I said I had managed to do in the week, and went ahead and released the inside and outside of my calf and a couple of hip flexors. He looked at my left foot as I raised onto the toes and we both had a laugh as it just wouldn't do what it was meant to. I have to completely re-train my foot to go off the big toe instead of the outside and little toe. He taped up my foot, in a way to prevent heel drop and asked me to run today even though it wasn't on my plan. I wasn't sure when I'd be able to fit it in, but agreed.
I left work a bit early to get the run in before it got too dark - setting off at about 6. I planned a 2 mile route as he said I didn't have to run far, and decided to run hard to really test it. I managed the first mile in just under 9mm. I hoped for similar pace for the second mile that started down hill, but was able to keep up a faster pace and finished in 8:28mm. The foot felt quite good, less "slapping" as it hit the floor and for some I was able to feel that I was running off my big toe. It felt weird and my toe tired quickly, but I am taking it as progress.
Mile splits and route

It was nice running on my own. I am getting used to it now and think I find it easier than talking to people, especially in my current state of mind. I am proud of the progress I'm making but still really worried about the race. I don't know why I agreed to it. Running in a group of people is going to be tough again after all this time now running on my own.
