20Mar2018 - 4 mile Tuesday run
20th March 2018
In: Running 2018
Out of all the runs I now do, I do find the Tuesday mornings the hardest to get out and do. That said, when I am there, I enjoy it and that's what I think about when I'm rushing to get out and ready. It is also getting easier, which helps. The first time I did this run (1 min 11mm, 2 min 10mm, 1 min 11mm), I really struggled to get up to 10mm for the middle two miles. Now I struggle not to go too fast.
I set off from work and as the first bit is down a really steep hill, it is hard not to go too fast. I spent the next while trying to reduce my lap pace, but figured as long as I was going easy - 10:30 or 11mm, it was ok. At the 1 mile mark I took off up the hill towards the church. I was determined to get the pacing bang on today - and considering I felt like I could go so much faster, that was quite easy. The first faster mile was 9:57 and then the second was 10:03, not bad considering it ends on an uphill past the Remembrance Fields. The last mile felt really, really slow, but was pretty much on the button at 10:58. I met John on the walk back to the office and it was nice to catch up about his marathon training.
Although the long runs have been important, I feel these Tuesday runs have changed my outlook on running and helped me become a runner.
