Week 11, day 2: Stairs are complete!

We coped very well with the ladder last night and this morning - we did not fall or forget there were no stairs! First thing this morning, the builders finished off something with the floor joists ready for the building inspector to come back. The inspector had not been round since he inspected the hole in the ground for the foundations, and so was amazed by the progress when he visited today. He was delighted with every single thing that the builder had done - he said he could not find a fault or a comment to make about anything at all. This is great news - a real boost, considering how hairy things had been to begin with. The inspector was so impressed that he said he had already recommended the builder to a neighbour who has submitted very similar plans to ours.

Aside from the inspector's visit, the stairs were worked on today and were finished. They look amazing! It is really incredible how much less imposing they are compared to the old ones. Perhaps that was just the purple carpet and metal bannister though...
