Week 13, day 4: Pipes and cables

31st July 2014
The builder continued plumbing today, getting the pipes into the right places for the radiators upstairs. This was a tricky little job that he made look very easy; bending the copper pipes around each other and the joists and soldering joints together with a blow torch - all without a leak.

Photo 2: The big radiator in bedroom 2. The pipes have all been made to go in the right place for the radiator in bedroom 1, but it is on the new wall that has yet to be plastered, so the pipes are waiting under the floor boards until this is done.

Photo 4: Initially, the pipes for the en suite were going to come up from the utility room. But due to the dingy-ness of the utility room, the builder decided he would prefer to take them from the main bathroom. This meant going under the floor in bedroom 2, then up the wall, across above the steel and down into the en suite room. Excellent progress was made today, with the pipes making their way up over the steel.

The electrician was back to sort out the mess of cables in the utility room. We always knew they were a bit dodgy, seeing as when you turned the utility room light on, the bulb in the study glowed a little bit and the switch to the study light was rendered useless. He then moved on to lay the cabling for the lights above the breakfast bar, and the light switch for the lobby area.
