Week 14, day 1: First new toilet is in!

Photo 1: The apprentice was charged with filling the stud walls of the bathrooms with insulation this morning. The insulation is made from recycled glass bottles, and is an insulator of both heat and sound.

Meanwhile, the builder worked on the soil pipes for the toilets.
Photo 2: The en suite toilet's stack is connected to the utility room stack, and we had some considerable deliberations this morning in determining the best route for this pipe to take. Due to the "furniture" in the utility room (washing machine, sink and boiler, the pipe will have to come down on the left, behind where the washing machine will go. This would mean that the washing machine would stick out a long way into the room - not good, not good at all. The bright idea was had, to raise the washing machine, so that it can go closer to the wall, above the soil pipe. Now we just have to build that in...

Photo 3: Finally, in the last couple of hours of the day, the toilet in the main bathroom was removed, and the new one plumbed in! It looks good, and works a treat!
