Week 14, day 4: The bedrooms get boarded.

07th August 2014
The bedroom dormers were always going to be tricky to board up, compared to normal, straight walls. Celotex insulation was cut and placed in the ceiling and cheek spaces, before the plaster board was cut to size and screwed in place. The steels were packed with pieces of plasterboard, and the adhesive was allowed to dry overnight before the full piece will be fitted over the top and cut to size tomorrow. The spaces above the dormer windows are filled with insulation as well; the whole area should be really warm once it is all finished.

In addition to the plaster boarding that has been going on today, the builder worked a half day at the house, and fitted the waste pipes for the sink and shower in the main bathroom. The sink waste pipe goes through the floor joists, but the shower waste pipe goes underneath the floor and will be boxed in under the ceiling above the breakfast bar. We couldn't compromise the floor joists any more than they already are.
