Week 16, day 1: The beginning of the end.

18th August 2014
This is, apparently, the last week with the builders. There seems an inordinate amount of work left, that we can't believe will get done in the next 5 days.

Photo 1: The doorway between the library and the utility room needs to be plastered, so the builders erected the stud work for that today.

Photos 2-6: The builder's apprentice and his friend who was drafted in for a couple of days labour, applied the mist coat of well diluted emulsion to the walls of the new plaster to "seal" it. The white walls make the rooms look so much bigger, and I now get a feeling of being on holiday in the Mediterranean somewhere...

Photo 7: Outside they also tidied up a lot!

Photo 8: The builder placed the cupboard for the sink unit in place in the main bathroom, ready for the sink to be connected up tomorrow.

Photo 9: Our job for the evening was to remove the plasterboard from the long wall in the main bathroom, as tiling over the top of it would not be possible, and making this wall good was not in the builder's remit, unfortunately. This meant using a very heavy, powerful and noisy drill, rather late at night...

Photo 10: By the end of the night, we had a lovely clear wall (with a large hole in the middle that I am sure some tarantula sized spiders emerged from!).
