Week 6, day 1: The steel is ordered

I won't be uploading any photos today for the update, since there is hardly any change from Friday. A couple of additional beams have gone up on the roof, close to the existing part of the house, and from that the measurements were made for the huge steel that is needed. The builder said in the morning that he hoped a drawing and discussion on the phone with the steel company would suffice, but that he may need to go to London to their office to discuss it in person. It turns out that they did want him to go in person, but they aren't in London. They are in Essex. So, after a 2.5 hour journey each way, there wasn't much left of the day to do any more work.

The steel is now ordered, and when I called the company to pay for it, they said they hoped to be able to deliver it next Friday - 8 working days to make and deliver seems pretty good to me.

That's all for today then, and actually all until Wednesday, because the builder's wife has her 20 week scan tomorrow and so they won't be coming to ours to do any work.
