Week 7, day 3: Strong boys

18th June 2014
We are still waiting for the steel to come, and until it does, the joining wall can't be taken down. The plan is to take it down either tomorrow if the steel will be delivered on Friday, or take it down on Monday if the steel is delivered on Monday. If it is taken down now, there will be a big hole for rain, wind, cold etc to come in, not to mention the insecurity of the house and instability of the wall!

One job they could do today, was to put in the strong boys (or strong buoys?), as a starting point to be ready. The builders did not come on Tuesday (yesterday) as the labourer's tooth was still bad, and they don't have much to do. The strong boys are like scaffolding poles in the bedroom:

As they were struggling for tasks today, I asked if they could fix the leak in the roof of the porch - we don't want water dripping into it when it has all be done up nice. It turns out that the felt under the tiles was severely deteriorated and the cause of the leak. So I agreed that they could re-felt and batten the roof. Extra money, but it did need to be done and it would be a load more hassle getting someone else in to do it at a later date.
