This is the orchid that Matt Dawson presented me with, and I've been thinking about how best to photograph it for a while. I suddenly remembered the painting with light technique and gave it a go. This was a 2 second exposure with no lights on in the room, and a torch used to wave a little light from one angle, to leave the background completely black. I took a few images, and this was definitely the best one. I love the colours and the way it seems to be floating in mid air, suspended in zero gravity.
