I saw this kind of image online months ago and have wanted to try it ever since, but had no confidence that I would be able to recreate the images that I had seen. However, this was my first attempt, and I'm chuffed to pieces with it. Considering I didn't know if the camera would be focussed on the swinging torch, if the first swing would be the right size, or if the exposure time would be long enough, I think it is a really good effort. I'm not sure I could recreate it though! I'll definitely be doing more of these.
