I was taking photos of this bee for ages, busy in the flowers of the runner beans, until I finally took one that I was pleased with. The bee is nicely in focus, but what makes it the best shot, is the sun shimmering on its wings. The simple flowers do not overpower the image, but their vibrant red colour contrasts amazingly with the green leaves. It is no wonder the bees are attracted. Just a shame there are so few bees this year, as hardly any of the flowers are emerging as beans.
